On the 4.10.1957 Soviet Union launched human's first artifitial satellite into the Earth's orbite. Schock for the western world, proudness for the Soviet Union. This satelitte was named Sputnik (Traveller). Space competition began!

This proud moment of Soviet history marked also two watches, one made by 1MČZ (later Poljot) and one by ČČZ (later Vostok).

In fact, 1MČZ Sputnik existed also in the version with black dial, ČZČ had four different versions of dials and hands.

Sputnik is inspiration also in the modern watch industry. I have here three examples, Volmax Šturmanskie Sputnik, Umnyashov Sputnik and Raketa Sputnik.
